If the world were pretty enough, I’d shoot on location all the time. But the world is just not being designed with aesthetics as a priority.
Miles Aldridge is a remarkable aesthetician. He has a new exhibition at Hamilton’s Gallery in London which I’m rather disappointed to not be seeing. This man brings a steady eye and a subtle worldview to the printed page. His portfolio site is a treasure trove. It’s a real pleasure.

The Luscious Locher Catalogue May 11, 2008

This is why we love the web. It’s only as puritan as you need it to be. People and Brands can say what they need to say and you choose whether you want to visit. In Nicole Locher’s case, she says cute, dirty things on beautiful clothes. Usually fashion, or any kind of, online catalogues are dull affairs. They don’t have to be dull, and in Swiss Miss Locher’s case, I doubt she could be. There’s a sense of humour at play in the clothes that is really entertaining. Her catalogue does a wonderful job of that as well. The site is hilarious, beautifully and simply executed, and makes me want to be a part of her world view. (Even though the clothes really won’t suit my frame.)

I like Katja’s style. Clautrophobic crops on open lighting setups make for a slick, angular portfolio of fashion.

Rasmus Mogensen is a fashion and beauty photographer. Or I could say, Rasmus Mogensen is a fantastic image creator. Or I could just sit here speechless. His fashion sets have some beautiful textural and conceptual elements and he has an amazing finish on his work that makes you want to look closer and closer. It was nearly impossible to choose an image for this post. Awesome work and well worth bookmarking.

It seemed to take Phorever! I’ve finally spotted some new content on Phamous 69, everyone’s favourite diamante encrusted glam ero-disco magazine. If you haven’t seen it yet, picture high-end photography, film and writing applied to slick surfaces (including models) with a whiff of decadence. City kids swear by it.

Diesel have done something beautiful. This image creation is absolutely startling and I can only imagine what a treat it would have been to see this live.
“Diesel’s Creative Team (under the direction of Wilbert Das) based the show on an aquatic theme entitled “Liquid Space” and brought together Barcelona animation studio Dvein – who worked on the CGI visual effects and 3D animations – and Danish multi-media production agency, Vizoo, who provided the innovative technology for the show, which they had created themselves. Neither studio, say Diesel, had previously worked on anything like this before.”
400 Strippers April 8, 2007

This Flickr account has a sampling from 400 Polaroids of strippers trying out for dancing jobs at a club in Southern California. They were shot during the 60′s and 70′s and were bought for $10. For image collectors it’s a bit of a treasure trove (the junk shop variety) and worth a look. Bring back the beehive!
